ATC Work Smart is an incorporated not-for-profit community based organisation that became incorporated in November 1987 and began operating as a Group Training Organisation to create additional apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities for youth in Albany Western Australia.

ATC Work Smart now provides a labour hire, recruitment, meat inspection, training and administrative support service to industry in the Great Southern, Southwest, Midwest and Metropolitan Perth regions. Our Head Office is located in the Albany CBD with offices located in Bunbury and Geraldton.

ATC Work Smart provides four distinct services:

1.  Our primary activity is Group Training, which involves recruiting and employing apprentices and trainees and placing them with host employers. By supplying apprentices under contracts of training we able to bring skills and training to many businesses, including those that may not have otherwise had an established culture of training. Under the group training structure, we have the capacity to rotate apprentices through several host employers making our service particularly attractive to small and medium sized businesses.  Some small to medium sized business operators may be unable to commit to the full period or the full range of training required and under the group training arrangement individual apprentices can gain valuable experience from working in several organisations.

2.  ATC Work Smart extended its services in 1998 to provide labour hire employment opportunities for people other apprentices and trainees.  Our labour hire service has created an environment in which many small employers have been able to provide short term work opportunities when they otherwise wouldn’t have had the means.  By using our service these businesses have a ready access to a labour source when needed without the industrial relations issues surrounding employment or the risk of legislative non-compliance. Surplus income from this service provides ATC Work Smart with additional funds to assist in the delivery of support services to apprentices and trainees employed under our group training model.

3.  In 2014 ATC Work Smart became one of only five organisations Australia wide to be accredited as an Independent Australian Government Authorised Officer Employer (IEA) approved by the Department of Agriculture. This enables us to provide independent meat inspection services that are required at abattoirs that wish to export meat products to European Union countries.

4.  Providing a nationally accredited training service in our own right as a Registered Training Organisation is currently delivered under our ATC Work Smart and Corporate First Aid Australia banners. We specialise in delivering qualifications in First Aid, CPR, Low Voltage Rescue, Individual Support (aged care and disability), Business and Hospitality and are in the process of adding more products to scope.

ATC Work Smart is governed by a voluntary Board of Management.
