In 1985, the Shire of Katanning allocated land for a new speedway track near Forrest Hill Golf Club.
With Ivan Quartermaine leading a team of volunteers, Pinwernying Park was completed after nine weekends of work.
The first race took place on September 8, 1985, with medals awarded to all drivers.
Today, the track remains a hub of excitement, with locals still gathering to enjoy the thrilling events that continue to bring the community together.
