Forging Friendships: Rotary Hosts Memorable Tour for Katanning’s Senior Men

It was a day of connection, conversation, and country charm as Rotary hosted the At the Forge and Farm tour for Katanning’s senior men. This special outing brought together community members to share stories, explore local heritage, and enjoy the warmth of rural hospitality.

The day began with a visit to the traditional forge of Morris and Lesley Trimming, where attendees were treated to a fascinating demonstration of blacksmithing and metalwork. With sparks flying and stories flowing, the group enjoyed learning about the skills and history behind the craft — a rare and meaningful experience.

Next stop was a tour of Russell’s modern shearing shed and farm, where the group got a firsthand look at contemporary farming practices and the innovation driving agriculture today. Russell also welcomed everyone to the historic Kenmare Hall, offering a chance to reflect on the hall’s legacy and its importance to the local community.

The day wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of Danny, who provided the buses that transported participants between stops.

Laughter, reminiscing, and shared stories filled the air throughout the day, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of community and appreciation for the region’s rich past and promising future.

A big thank you to all who participated and helped make the event such a success — especially our generous hosts and supporters.
